Review: Glade Tough Odor Solutions Carpet Cleaner

I mentioned a couple times before that, with the exception of the bathroom and laundry room, our entire house has carpeting on the floors. And, because we have two young children and a cat, I can tell you there are times when those carpets can get a funky odor to them.

Obviously, the best method to correct that is our carpet shampooer. And, we do use that on a routine basis. However, it isn't convenient enough to use daily (especially with the kids running around) so we usually look for temporary alternatives too.

My wife recently purchased a container of Glade Tough Odor Solutions Carpet Cleaner. I'm not 100 percent sure which store she bought it at or what she spent on it. But, it is proving to be a good purchase for us.

I have purchased other carpet cleaners like this in the past and they all have the same basic concept. You sprinkle it on the floor then vacuum it up and, while cleaning, it is supposed to leave a clean smell in your room.

However, even though the process is the same, the results aren't. I have seen my wife buy dozens of brands that did nothing more than leave a strong perfume-like scent in the room. In fact, we had a few that had a worse odor than the unclean carpet did. Fortunately, it was warm enough for us to open up a window when that happened. There were plenty of others that had the opposite effect and did nothing to cover up a bad smell; forcing us to break out the shampooer anyway.

The Glade Tough Odor Solutions brand does appear to be different though. It's just as easy as the other cleaners, just sprinkle it on the carpet and vacuum. But, it manages to keep any odors coming from the carpet under control without just trying to mask them with a strong scent. My wife used this the other day when I was at work and all I noticed was the clean smell, not the cleaner.

If you are a person who is looking for a product that keeps your carpets smelling clean and fresh without making them smell perfume-like, I recommend checking out this product. As I said before, I don't know what my wife spent on this and there is a good chance it is more expensive than some of the other brands. But, it is definitely worth the extra money.
