Want Peace and Joy Over the Holidays? Start Now

As the holidays approach, more individuals get stressed out from the last minute shopping and rushing around. Wouldn't it be nice, if you could just relax and enjoy the holidays for once? You can add to your holiday cheer by following the tips below.

Calender Planning
Use a large block calender and jot down important events on it. Better yet, record the times for those events. Place the calendar, so that it can easily be viewed regularly.

Family First
Decide what really is important to attend. Family should always take preference over other events. Many times, individuals will feel obliged to attend work related events first. I would place these events second or maybe third on my to do list.

Church or Religion
More churches are active this time of the year than any other. This is mainly because they look out for others in dire need. Take the time and get involved. You will be doing three important things. (Helping your church, helping others and helping yourself).

Don't Sweat the Small Things
There are always little things, that need to get down before the holidays. Things like carpet cleaning, sending cards, getting the pet groomed and so on. Make a small priority list of things to get done. Insignificant things go at the bottom. If you get to them, fine. If not, don't lose sleep over it.

Start the Gift Looking Early
Many individuals drag it out. They think and change their minds over and over. Decide early and get it done. The perfect gift idea doesn't exist. Simply put, you can't read another persons mind. It is your effort and intent that counts. If you don't know what to get, ask the person. However, if you ask, follow through.

Decorate Early
This can remove a lot of stress. Don't pull a "Clark Griswald" and over do it. Keep it simple.

Baking
My wife will bake two weeks before the holiday week. She wraps or freezes her products. Usually on this day, I get out of her way or dedicate myself to her, as her kitchen slave.

Don't forget New Years
People get so involved in Christmas, that they forget New Years. Start looking for those New Years specials early.
