5 Healthy Tips for Your Carpet: Including Eco Friendly Suggestions

We have all been in the situation where we need to clean our carpet, and keep it looking clean, especially homeowners who want to keep their home looking great, or young college kids trying to get their deposit back from their landlord. There are some basic ways to keep your carpet looking good, and to clean up the stains that might be on your carpet. Here are five great healthy tips for your carpet.

Healthy Carpet Tip #1: Keep Your Carpet Clean: Vacuum

The best thing you can do for your carpet is keep it clean. Vacuuming will actually go a long way in keeping your carpet fresh and lasting for a long time. However, this does mean you need to vacuum more than once a week and you need to vacuum correctly.

Vacuuming is going to entail slowly going over your carpet to make sure you suck up all of the extra dirt that might be trapped in it. You slowly need to go over your entire carpet, and you need to go over each section of carpet multiple times. You should also use the extensions that come with your vacuum cleaner to deeply clean the areas by the wall and under furniture.

Healthy Carpet Tip #2: Remove Stains Fast and Correctly

No matter how hard you try, there are going to be times when something is spilled on your carpet, and you need to get it cleaned up. Making sure you clean up the spot quickly and correctly will ensure that the stain is removed, and that the stain does not spread on your carpet.

The first step is going to be blotting the stain, not rubbing, to remove as much liquid as possible. Rubbing the stain is only going to spread the stain onto more of the carpet. After you have gotten as much of the liquid up as possible, you can add cleaning solutions. Let the cleaning solution set for a little bit, than again blot the stain, do not rub. Remove as much liquid as possible again. This should remove the stain and the liquid that causes carpet damage.
