How Carpet Cleaning Machines and Vacuum Cleaners Were Invented

When a carpet cleaning machine is mentioned nowadays, many people think of the machines that are used to clean the spots and odors from your carpet with water and chemicals. When the vacuum was actually invented this is how they were thought of, as a carpet cleaning machine.

Since the creation of the carpet, the invention of the carpet cleaning machines, also now known as vacuum cleaners, wouldn't be far away. In Chicago in 1860, the very first hand held carpet cleaner was designed and tested. The very first powered carpet cleaning machine was invented forty years later in the 1900's by Cecil Booth.

During the time Booth finished his vacuum cleaner invention, James Spangler came up with his own invention of the vacuum cleaner which he later sold to a cousin with the last name of Hoover. Since the inception of Spangler's invention being sold to a family member named Hoover, the Hoover vacuum cleaners have become the leading and predominate name in vacuum cleaners. Hoover vacuums are still one of the most popular brand names in vacuum cleaners today.

With the invention of the vacuum cleaner, many housewives deemed this invention a blessing because it helped them keep their homes clean in less time. When the vacuums were invented they only had the capabilities of sucking up dust and dirt from the carpets, but with today's technology, inventors have also designed the wet cleaners' we now call the carpet cleaning machines. The carpet cleaning machines steam the carpets and kills any germs in the carpets.
