Kitchen Spring Cleaning Tips

The kitchen has a lot of traffic so it needs more spring cleaning than any other room. To simplify, break down kitchen cleaning with these tips.
Tip One is assemble the cleaning products . Vinegar, lemons, baking soda, old toothbrushes, rags, recycled spray bottles, trash bags and newspapers complete your list. For fragrance, include lavender essential oil. For scouring, use toothbrushes with baking soda/vinegar paste.

Vinegar is an all purpose cleaner and as it dries, the smell disappears. Add equal parts vinegar and water to the spray bottle and 3 drops of essential oil. This mixture will clean, deodorize and disinfect. Vinegar is inexpensive and natural.

Tip two is clean out cabinets and refrigerator. Check expiration dates and chuck anything that is past due. If expiration dates are checked every kitchen spring cleaning, then your food is always fresh. As you empty shelves, spray with your vinegar solution and wipe. Do the cabinets one day and the refrigerator another day.

Tip three is cleaning the microwave and oven. If the oven is not self-cleaning, mix vinegar and baking soda to a paste and scrub. Soak oven racks in the bathtub with vinegar and baking soda. Green oven cleaners are also available for purchase. For the microwave, fill a cup with water and lemon slices. Cook for three minutes. When food is loosened on the microwave walls, wipe with vinegar/water.

Tip four is clean the garbage disposal and kitchen sink. Grind lemon slices or pour vinegar water while grinding until it smells fresh. For the kitchen sink, use the vinegar/ baking soda paste to scrub. When finished, rinse the sink. For a shine free finish, spray the sink with the vinegar/water solution.
