How to Remove Pet Odors

Pets are a joy to have. They provide love and companionship. But lets face it it is not always a bed ofroses trying to keep your home smelling nice and fresh where pets are involved. litter box, little accidents on the carpet or your dog that just never seems to smell nice, no matter how often you bathe him/her. At one time or another you are going to have issues with pet odor.

I have a lot of experience when it comes to the furry four legged creatures we call pets, be they dog or cat. I have 5 cats and 1 dog that are living in the home with me at this particular time so I know a thing or two about pet odor and the how to of removing it.

The best way to eliminate pet odor is to prevent it before it starts. Pet odor is very hard to get rid of, once it has established itself inside your home, but it can be removed! I am here to share some of my secrets on how to remove pet odor and how to make your home sweet smelling again.

To keep your litter box smelling fresh, wash it with vinegar after each cleaning. Before adding fresh litter, pour a small box of baking soda into the litter box, and then place your litter on top of the baking soda. This will keep pet odors to a minimum.

Spray pet bedding and areas that they frequent with a mixture of ½ vinegar and ½ water. Vinegar is great for neutralizing pet odors.

If one of your pets should have a little accident on the carpet, don't despair as this can easily be remedied. Take a few paper towels and blot the area to remove excess moisture. Spray the area with a mild detergent and repeat the blotting process. Spray the area with the vinegar and water mixture and let dry. If the odor is not completely removed, spray the area again.

The toughest pet urine odors can be removed with witch hazel. This product can be found at just about any store. It will be located wherever you find rubbing alcohol and the cost will vary between $1.19 and $2.00. Witch hazel will even remove pet odors that have dried and set in. Simply pour the witch hazel in a spray bottle and dispense wherever pet odors are a problem.
