The short answer is that EF on the Electrolux refrigerator digital display means "evaporator fan." The long answer is, it doesn't necessarily mean there is something wrong with your Electrolux refrigerator.
Before you panic that your new or old Electrolux refrigerator is broken because it reads EF on the digital display, turn the power off on the digital display and carefully unplug the refrigerator from the power source. Leave the refrigerator unplugged for three to five minutes. Plug the refrigerator back in and give the refrigerator a few minutes then turn the power button back on. Press the default button on the display and see if the EF code goes away.
You may see a new code, HIF, which means high temperature on your Electrolux refrigerator. This code is letting your know that the refrigerator is much hotter than the preset temperature. Give it a few minutes and see if the setting has display has changed from HIF to a number, which will be the actual temperature of the refrigerator or freezer.
Very often the computer in the refrigerator gets overloaded and errors happen if you press too many buttons. Perhaps you were playing with the vacation mode and other buttons before this happened?
Electrolux recommends that you do not plug the refrigerator into an outlet that has a reset button. If your refrigerator is plugged into one of these outlets, try plugging it into another outlet and see if the refrigerator resets itself.
Try vacuuming the vents under the refrigerator. Sometimes dust will affect how the refrigerator is working. It is a good idea to keep these dust free and vacuum them regularly to keep the condenser in good working condition.
