10 Last Minute Cleaning Tips Before You Show Your House

Ok. So, it's time to show your house. What can you do to make your house stand out for a sale? You cleaned your home, de-cluttered it, did the repairs and staged the furniture now what? There are selling specific cleaning tips that will make your house stand out right from the front door.
1) The first thing the potential buyer will see as they enter the home is the front door. Some think of this as unimportant, but this is the passage to your home.
Picture this: The Realtor Jenny, meets Mr. and Mrs. J at the house. She greets them. As Jenny tells them about the house they walk up the path to the porch. Jenny reaches out and pushes buttons on the little box that holds the keys for Realtors. She takes out the key and unlocks the front door. Now, think about the young couple. Do they just stand there not noticing anything? No. they are standing there looking at everything. They see the cobwebs in the corner of the door, how dirty it is, all the scratches and marks, how dull it is and they are trying to look through the window on the door. So, in that moment they have begun to form an opinion. Make that door POP! - Clean it with soap and water. Use a magic eraser to remove marks and blemishes. A generic eraser from one of the stores that sell everything for a buck will work. If you have a silver screen door use a stainless steel cleaner on it. On old dull wooden doors, use a wood oil. Use it thick. Let it set. Any oil that does not soak in, wipe off in long strokes.
Clean the door frame. Sweep out the threshold. Make it shine like the door or screen-door. Clean out the cobwebs.
2) The bathroom has several different tips. First, to get rid of build-up on the shower door, use vinegar. Wipe it on. Let it set for at least five minutes. Scrub with a rough scrubber. The green ones that are used for dishes are fine. Next, use a magic eraser to remove any marks on the tub or sink.
Dolores Thorson of Majestic Cleaning in Omaha, Nebraska recommends using a pumice stone on any lime build-up in the toilet bowl. She says "even the toughest build-up can't stand up against a pumice stone."
