Every home may get an odor from time to time. It can be disturbing to come home and walk into a smelly house. Deodorizing your home in an inexpensive way can be a challenge. There are many things that you can do to freshen up your home.
First, I will go over some of the obvious ways to freshen the home. You can start by opening up your windows, cleaning with lemon, use candles or scented oils. This can temporarily help the situation for a while. A lot of smells come from the obvious places like kitchen sinks or bathroom sinks. A good way to get rid of smells that come up from pipes would be to clean them. I like using a concoction of baking soda and vinegar. Sprinkle the baking soda down the drain and pour the vinegar on top of that. This will cause a bubbly reaction. It cleans your drain and freshens it at the same time. This can also be used on fabrics and it cleans just as well. Another obvious place that can smell is the toilet if it is not constantly clean. One item I find really useful is an automatic toilet bowl cleaner. It is a drop in for your tank and it deodorizes and cleans every time you flush.
Fabrics can also store and hold odor like pillows, curtains, rugs, or carpet. Steam cleaning your carpet once or twice a year can also drive out odor. This is especially helpful if you have pets. Carpet freshener that is safe around animals is a good buy.
