How to Remove Pet Hair from Your Home

Love your pet but hate the pet hair he/she leaves behind? Here are some tips for quickly removing pet hair from your home so you can spend more time petting and enjoying your pet instead of cleaning up pet hair.

Hairspray Grabs Pet Hair In Seconds

Lightly mist a clean cloth (or paper towel) with hairspray and rub it over per hair covered surfaces like the couch or carpet. The hairspray attracts and holds onto pet hairs, leaving behind a clean, hair-free surface. Re-mist the cloth with hairspray as needed to keep it damp while removing pet hair.

Blow Up A Balloon

To remove pet hair from shaggy surfaces or non-washable fabric surfaces, nothing works better than a balloon. The static electricity of a blown up balloon will attract and hold onto pet hair. Rub an inflated balloon over soft, non-washable surfaces and watch how the pet hair is magically attracted to the balloon. Once all the pet hair is picked up, hold the balloon over a trash receptacle and deflate, toss balloon and pet hairs in the trash.

Fabric Softener Makes Carpet Release Pet Hair

Pet hair imbedded in carpeting is almost impossible to remove, unless you know this trick. In a small spray bottle, combine one part liquid fabric softener and one part water, shake to thoroughly combine, then lightly spray diluted fabric softener mixture over carpeting. Allow the carpet time to dry, then vacuum. The fabric softener loosens the imbedded pet hair so the vacuum cleaner can pick it up. As an added bonus, the diluted fabric softener will refresh the carpet and make it and the room smell fresh.
