If you have a steam cleaner that can be used in the car you can forgo the bucket and brush. After you have all of your tools together the next step is to thoroughly vacuum the carpet. Once you have the carpet vacuumed check the entire carpet for stains, add the pre-treatment product to that stains, and ensure that you follow the directions on the product for proper use. Now add the carpet shampoo to a bucket of hot water. Dip the stiff brush into the water and start to wash the entire carpet in circular motions. If you do not have a steam cleaner or wet-dry vacuum that will pick up water do not get the carpet any wetter than necessary.
