How to Clean a Mattress of Even Urine

Mattresses take a lot of abuse. After all, you are on the mattress for eight hours a day. The older the mattress is, the more you may want to clean and deodorize the mattress. Put clean sheets on your bed at least once
a week to help protect your mattress since the longer you go without clean sheets the more dirt and dust can get on the mattress. Always have a mattress pad on the mattress and wash it at least twice a year to help protect the mattress.

Twice a year you should turn your mattress over so that it gets used on both sides. When you flip your mattress take your vacuum and vacuum off the mattress with the proper attachment. It is a good idea to air out your mattress when you can. Put the mattress outside on a nice day and let the sun shine on the mattress. You can put the mattress outside on a nice day in the winter and it can freeze clean. When you freeze clean you are killing any unpleasant bed bugs that may be in the mattress. Freeze cleaning is very effective for cleaning a mattress.
Unpleasant odors can accumulate on a mattress. To help get out the unpleasant odors on a mattress you can spread baking soda over the mattress and let it sit on the mattress all day. Then vacuum off the baking soda and your mattress should smell clean.
You can also fill a spray bottle with vinegar and spray the mattress with the vinegar. Don't soak the mattress just get a spray of vinegar on the mattress. You can use a hair dryer to dry up the vinegar. For a real deodorizing you can spread a thin layer of baking soda on the mattress before you spray on the vinegar. Then dry the mattress and vacuum off the baking soda.
A mattress that has been urinated on can be a challenge. You can use some water with some bleach in it to clean up the urine but it will probably discolor the mattress. You can also use a pet odor removal product on a urine stained mattress to get out the odor of urine. If you do get a mattress wet it is important o dry it off as best you can. A hair drier works well or you can take the mattress outside to dry. Another way to dry a mattress is with a towel. Just press a dry towel on the wet mattress until it if fairly dry. Then let the mattress dry itself the rest of the way.
