Pour the baking soda into the Parmesan cheese container. You may need a large bag of baking soda to do the entire house, but only a small box for one room. Sprinkle the baking soda on the carpet and let it set. Do not over sprinkle the baking soda or you will have to do a lot of vacuuming to remove all the baking soda.
Let the baking soda sit on the carpet for at least 2 hours. A better time frame would be to let it sit overnight or while you are away at work during the day. Try not to walk on the carpet as this may grind the baking soda down into the carpet and you will not be able to vacuum it all up.
