We have owned many appliances made by Kenmore, and we have always been very happy with our purchases, getting long lasting performance from them. When we needed a new water heater I spent several months shopping around before we decided to buy a Kenmore. In a nutshell, they are a name we trust, and Sears has excellent customer service. The price was competetive to other brands we looked at.

Self Cleaning FeatureThe Kenmore was the only hot water heater we found that had the self cleaning system. The water is supposed to swirl around inside the tank as it is filling up, thus cleaning the inside of the tank. Some plumbers and manufacturers were not even aware that this feature was available. This is perfect for homes, like ours, that have very hard water. Over time the mineral deposits from the hard water accumulate inside the hot water heater, forming a scale. This diminishes the hot waters performance and makes it more costly to operate.
Warranty* One year Warranty against defects on water heater.
* 9 year Warranty against leaks.
* 9 year Warranty on parts.
InstallationWe were shocked when we learned what it costs to have a hot water heater installed! It cost nearly as much as the unit itself! We did not have Sears install it, but we did go with a friend who is a certified appliance repair man who had 20 years of previous Sears work experience under his belt. We saved $100 by hiring our own installer.
