I recently purchased the 12 Amp Hoover Turbo Cyclonic vacuum at my local Target store here in Madison, Wisconsin. I had previously been using a Eureka Lite 11 Amp bag vacuum that had been with me for almost 10 years and was starting to lose suction. The Hoover was priced at $99.99 and was by far one of the cheaper bagless 12 Amp vacuums available for sale. It didn't come with a lot of bells and whistles (e.g., retractable cord, clean carpet sensor), but all I was looking for was a basic vacuum that had strong suction.
Assembly
After taking it home, I assembled it without even having to read the directions. The handle had to inserted and the power cord unwound and re-wound. The hardest part of the entire assembly was figuring out how I could connect the upper hose to the vacuum handle in order to create the "telescope wand" for cleaning areas such as couches and drapes.
Accessories
The Hoover Turbo Cyclonic vacuum comes with several attachments that work with its telescope wand, such as a crevice tool, a dust brush, and a power brush. After using each of these tools, I found a lot of potential use for the pick-like crevice tool (e.g., couch crevices, corners) as well as the dust brush (e.g., stairs). The paw-shaped power brush was also handy when vacuuming around small carpet areas and corners.
Advantages
The Hoover Turbo Cyclonic pulled up an amazing amount of carpet fibers, dust, and dirt from my rugs and carpets- and this was after they had all been recently steam-cleaned. When I tried using the vacuum on shorter carpets and rugs, far less rug fiber was pulled up, and significantly more dirt. I couldn't believe how much material dropped out of the bagless canister of this vacuum.
