NEW DELHI, Apr. 30 (IPS) -- A not-made-by-children labelling
scheme for India's exquisite hand woven carpets is producing
results, but not always to the advantage of young workers.
Anti-child labor activists and the New Delhi-based Rugmark
Foundation which issues the child labor-free label, say that some
rug factories have shifted out of the main carpet weaving region
of Mirzapur and Bhadohi in north India, to get around the
restrictions on hiring children.
