In a large world, in a large city, in a large school, your child can feel lost. They may feel as though they are small and insignificant. They may feel that no one is listening to them, or that no one would listen to them if they spoke up. Teach your teen that their words are important. It's as simple as listening to them. Ask them questions, and show them that you are listening 100% to their answers. Listen to their thoughts and make sure you give them your full attention. You'll help build their self-esteem. They will see that their words and thoughts are important. Focus your attention and show empathy towards your child. This is extremely important to their growth of self-confidence.
