The Hand Held Bissell 1867 Steam Mop

While the Swiffer brand of disposable mops are convenient they just don't quite do the cleaning job of a nice handheld steam mop. These vacuum like devices not only boast suction but give offer the added ability to steam away kitchen and bathroom stains. When it comes to overall sales volumes of the most popular models the Bissell 1867 Steam Mop Vacuum is the cream of the crop.

Product Overview:

If you're a fan of the Swiffer disposable mops then you'll be a fan of the Bissell 1867. It will not only do a noticeably better job but it also requires noticeably less elbow grease. With a mop head dimension of 7 ½ inches by 10 ½ inches and weighing in at just under 7 lbs it is also comparable in size to the vacuuming swiffer. You can even hang this device on the wall just like the Swiffer brand cleaner. The Bissell cleans surfaces by generating steam from a water reservoir that is housed on the back of the unit. The instructions dictate that you should use distilled water, but I've used tap water and it has performed just fine. If you have especially hard water I would stick with distilled. Because you are using steam to clean you avoid spreading all those harsh chemicals all over your house, and I think everyone would agree about that being a good thing.

You'll not only do a better job cleaning your home with the Bissell 1867 but you'll also likely ultimately save a little money in the long run. If you're not buying disposable dish rags or Swiffer clothes you're going to avoid filling landfill with un-needed disposable goods. All you need to do for maintenance is remove the included cloth over for the base of the mop and toss it in the dirty clothes. Just was it as you would a regular towel.
