How Can I Cut Down Cleaning My Home?

When one thinks home improvement possibly, the ideas of remodeling, painting, roofing or some other form of "home improvement" comes to mind. To truly improve one's home; it requires much more than just "redoing" or "replacing" an object. For me, home improvement also means spending less time cleaning my home. Who wants to spend their day off cleaning for hours? Not me! Yes, it can take hours to clean the kitchen, living room, dining room, bedrooms and more. Improving a home in my opinion also consists of increasing "my" time. So, now you are probably wondering, how can I do this? There are a few simple tricks that you can start tomorrow and will pleasantly surprise you when your home chores take much less time to complete and your "me time" increases.

Take off your shoes when entering your home. Place a small mat at each entry door of your home. I also place a shoe rack there or even a laundry basket will work to hold the shoes. Teach yourself and everyone in your family to wipe their feet on the rug and place their shoes in the designated area. This will decrease the amount of time you spend vacuuming your home weekly and shampooing those carpets!

Clean up spills the minute they happen. Don't procrastinate! If you notice a spill in your refrigerator or microwave, clean it up as soon as you notice. The cuts down the time you have to spend cleaning out your refrigerator and microwave. You will never have to be embarrassed if a guest opens one of those appliances only to find it is dirty. Rinse that toothpaste out your sink as well. This prevents it from hardening in the sink, making your job much more time consuming.

Wipe that water! Keep a towel and squeeze in your shower, or at least within easy reach. Wipe those walls and glass doors the minute you are done showering or bathing. Do not let the water sit, as this simply means; you have those pesky water marks that will consume a good two or three hours of your Saturday afternoon to remove. Imagine enjoying the beverage of your choice and relaxing instead of scrubbing those shower doors!
